Thomas E. Backer, PhD is Executive Director of Valley Nonprofit Resources, which is based at California State University Northridge and provides information and services to build the capacity of the more than 4.300 nonprofits in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles. At CSUN he also created a permanent endowment that funds faculty research on the nonprofit sector, and he has conducted research on and provided technical assistance to the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors for more than 45 years. Also a licensed psychologist, Dr. Backer is Senior Research Fellow at California State University Northridge and Associate Clinical Professor ofWatch Now

Thomas E. Also a licensed psychologist, Dr. Backer is Senior Research Fellow at California State University Northridge and Associate Clinical Professor of Medical Psychology at UCLA Medical School. In 2003-4 he was Senior Fellow at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs, and he has written many books and articles about innovation and change in the nonprofit sector, most recently Strategies to Scale Up Social Programs: Pathways, Partnerships and Fidelity, published by the Wallace Foundation.

Allen Lipscomb, PsyD, LCSW, Associate Professor in the Social Work Department at the California State University Northridge. Dr. Lipscomb studied diversity and inclusion practices for human resources within organizations through Cornell University. Dr. Lipscomb specializes in providing anti-oppressive and inclusive mental health services to individuals, children, youth and families of color. His pedagogy is centered on cultural anti-oppressive and clinically responsive inclusive practices with consumers.
